Veterans Day

The Troutville Sunshine Girls host an annual Veteran's Day program at Troutville Elementary School. The program is followed by an appreciation luncheon at Troutville Town Hall.

Each year about 50 local veterans and their families are honored. The veterans and their families assemble at Town Hall in Troutville, where the Sunshine Girls (Lee Minnix, Peggy Combs, Lora Osborne, Jessica Mowles, Jan Smith, Dorothy Henry, Bonnie Lee, Sarah St. Clair, and Marlene Garten), greet them. They are then served a lovely lunch.

The Sunshine Girls also deliver lunch to other veterans who cannot attend the event in person.
